Richard enlisted in the U.S Marine Corps during his junior year of high school and departed for bootcamp after graduation a year later. He served two enlistments and was honorably discharged. He was hired by the U.S. Customs Service soon after. Richard spent the next 25 years working various positions mostly along the southwest border; San Diego, Tecate, Otay Mesa, Calexico and Algodones, Ca ports of entry as well as many of the Arizona and Texas border crossings. Richard's experiences includes working on many specialized enforcement teams specializing in Narcotic, currency, alien, and weapons interdiction. His career spans many high-profile positions and locations, including Washington D.C. After 9/11 U.S, Customs service, U.S. Border Patrol, and the U.S. Immigration Service were merged to form CBP (Customs and Border Protection) DHS. During his career he targeted and seized millions of dollars in contraband, weapons, and currency. Richard retired at the end of 2015.
